Auditions for Ain't Misbehavin'

There’s nothing like a sassy, sultry musical to chase off those winter blues. Ain’t Misbehavin’, a musical celebration of jazz great Fats Waller, features such fabulous tunes as “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter” and “It’s a Sin to Tell a Lie”. Directed by Kip Moore, Ain’t Misbehavin’ runs Jan. 18 through Feb. 3, 2019. Auditions are at 7 p.m. Nov. 5 and 6 at the Dayton Playhouse.Director Kip Moore is looking for actors/singers who have comedic ability, ability to move well on stage, a varied vocal range and ability to handle tight vocal harmonies. Kip is looking for three ladies and two men.Auditioners should prepare 16 bars of a song in the style of the show. An accompanist will be provided.ROLESAndre– African American male, age 25-45. Baritone. An unrepentant party hound. A flirt and a bit of a womanizer.Armelia– African American female, age 25-55. Soprano. A voluptuous and sassy woman. Very strong-willed and not afraid to share her thoughts.Charlaine– African American female, age 18-35. Mezzo. A sweet, young lady. Very innocent.Ken– African American male, age 25-55. Bari-Tenor. Jovial, cheerful, and loud. Larger than life.Nell– African American female, age 30-45. Mezzo. Confident and charming. A knowledgeable woman of the world.The Dayton Playhouse is located at 1301 E.
